Type: Capsule

Composition: Omeprazole USP   20 mg

Description:

DOMED (Omeprazole) belongs to a class of drug known as PPIs (Proton Pump Inhibitors). Controls hyperacidity. DOMED checks an excessive secretion of HCl and thereby regulates pH value of stomach and works in decreasing the amount of acid which is made by the stomach. Usually seen in symptoms like acid reflux, ulcers and difficulty in swallowing.

Omeprazole acts as an acid-blocking drug. Omeprazole is a weak base and is concentrated and converted into the active form in the highly acidic environment within the parietal cell where it stimulates the acid pump.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      

Indications:

  • Hyperacidity
  • Esophageal reflux
  • Peptic ulcer
  • Heartburn 
  • Reflux esophagitis
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity

Side-effects: Mild side-effects may appear in few cases.

  • Intestinal or abdominal pain (Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea) 
  •  Cramping
  • Headache
  • Allergic reactions including rash, itching and swelling.
  • Dizziness

Dosage:

Adult Dose: Take Omeprazole 20 mg orally once a day in the morning or as directed by a physician.

Precautions:

For patients who take prolonged treatment may result in causing gastric malignancy, impaired renal and hepatic functions.
